Pearson Gregory’s Dining Room

“In the Family Dining Room there used to be a small billiard table and a huge desk which was so big it couldn’t be moved. The room was not used for grand dinners as Pearson Gregory was getting too old.

They had lovely china kept in glass cases and taken out once a year to be washed. It was very old and only used if they had big occasions.

There used to be big silver handles on the fireplace below the mantle but these were sold separately at Sotheby’s. There were some pieces missing off the marble sideboard, cherubs, fishes and scrolls with a big shell in the middle. It used to look lovely. There used to be huge fire irons kept on an attachment to the grate.”
