In 1871, according to the census records, Catherine Sherwin Gregory employed a housekeeper, a butler, a lady’s maid, two laundry maids, five housemaids, one scullery maid, an under butler, two footmen, one coachman, three grooms, a house porter, a farmworker and a gardener.
