Seabrook’s Struggle With Cultural Differences
In a letter addressed to Dr. Gordon Kingsley, Harlaxton Principal 2003-2014, Reg Seabrook shares his memories of three weeks working at RAF Spitalgate by day and sleeping in Harlaxton village by night. Seabrook’s duty was to observe aircrafts landing and report any aircraft troubles to the Communication tower. He describes one night in which an aircraft crashed and burst into flames one night when he was on duty. He also describes the ways in which communication difficulties between men from different areas of the country skewed important information between different commands.
