Original Poetry
Grantham’s local newspaper, The Grantham Journal, has been a weekly publication for over 150 years. Founded in 1854, it was started to provide comment on the town’s growth. A poem published on Saturday, the tenth of October 1857 was written in honour of the old Harlaxton Manor house. As the Manor became ever more neglected, this poem was a “Farewell, old cherished friend.”
