“Operation Market Garden” – A Failed Attempt at Winning the War

Throughout the summer of 1944, prior to the June 6 Normandy Invasions of D-Day, the Headquarters of the 1st Airborne Division was based at Harlaxton Manor. Here, they prepared and trained for war. The Parachute Regimental Association from the Newark Branch of the 1st Airborne Division delivers an annual memorial presentation. This 2011 speech memorializes the men who resided at Harlaxton Manor after the Normandy Invasion and fought at the battle of Arnhem.
