Mrs. Van Der Elst Entertains Soldiers

Mrs. Violet Van der Elst had a herd of white Shetland ponies in the front fields of the Manor House.  The 1^st Airborne Division personnel often fed the ponies with bread and as a way to say ‘thank you’ the ponies would bite their feeder’s backside when they turned to walk away!
